Judge Sam C. Pointer Endowed Scholarship
We were saddened to lose Judge Sam C. Pointer, Jr. ’57 earlier this year. Judge Pointer was a nationally respected former federal judge who was revered for his high respect of the law, tolerance of others, sharp intellect, and attention to detail. He will also be remembered for his expertise in handling cutting-edge, complex litigation. To honor the memory of Judge Pointer, his former firm of Lightfoot, Franklin & White, LLC and his former law clerks are establishing the Judge Sam C. Pointer Endowed Scholarship Fund. Current plans call for the scholarship to be awarded annually to the incoming editor-in-chief of the Alabama Law Review, to be applied to his or her third year of law school.
Meador Lecture Podcasts
Each year, as part of the Daniel J. Meador Lecture series, the UA Law faculty identifies an interdisciplinary theme and invites several scholars to illuminate the concept from his or her scholarly perspective. The initiative began in 1994 to honor the University of Alabama School of Law's former Professor and Dean who is now the James Monroe Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Virginia.
