Renovation and Construction Update

Construction on our building addition is scheduled for completion August 28, 2006. Furnishing the building will take three additional weeks. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for September 29, 2006.

We expect to receive next Monday, September 25th, our certificate of occupancy for our new building addition. Our Clinical Program and faculty members with offices in the addition will be moving in next Tuesday. After our Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on Friday, September 29th, we will begin using areas in the addition. The UALawCafe should begin serving food on Monday, October 2d. More information about food service will follow next week.

This weekend our contractor has some finshing work to do as well as a final cleaning. Although we all are tempted to check out the new quarters, please stay out of the Addition Friday-Sunday. The slate in the new first floor floyer will receive its final coat of sealant and needs to be free of any foot traffic until Sunday afternoon.

Summer 2006 Renovation:
Last summer two-thirds of the third floor were renovated to remove asbestos from ceilings and enlarge faculty offices. The current Student Lounge and adjacent SBA offices were renovated to create administrative offices for Admissions, Advancement, and space for the Senior Assistant Dean for Administration’s staff. Parts of the old Career Services Office also were be renovated for future use.
