Daniel Joyner

Professor Joyner received a B.A. in Japanese from Brigham Young University, his J.D. from Duke University School of Law, an M.A. in political science from the University of Georgia, and a PhD in law from the University of Warwick School of Law in the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining the Alabama Law faculty in 2007, Professor Joyner taught for four years on the faculty of the University of Warwick School of Law. During Michaelmas Term 2005, he was also a Senior Associate Member of St. Antony's College, Oxford University.

Professor Joyner teaches Public International Law, International Trade and Investment Law, The Law of Armed Conflict, and WMD Law & Policy.

Professor Joyner's research interests are focused in public international law. He has written extensively on international nuclear weapons nonproliferation law and civilian nuclear energy law.  He has additionally written on the rights of states in international law, treaty interpretation, international economic sanctions, international use of force law, fragmentation theory, the United Nations Security Council, and international investment law.
