Message from the Director

Directory Dan PowellThe practice of law is changing dramatically, and legal education must change with it. Today, it is much more difficult for law graduates to take additional time off to obtain an LL.M. degree. With work and family commitments, and the pressure of student loans, many lawyers desiring an LL.M.  are seeking creative alternatives to the traditional on-campus degree program.

Alabama’s LL.M. programs are the answer. The LL.M. concentrations in Taxation and Business Transactions use groundbreaking technology to deliver a true classroom experience to your desk.

Recent graduate and practicing lawyers receive a rigorous, skills-based education in tax or business law  without leaving the office. Students attend virtual classrooms, where they communicate fully with professors and classmates through interactive video and audio. You can see and speak to the instructor, chat with your classmates, see and even share the whiteboard.

The program website provides:

  • online registration and book ordering
  • program descriptions and announcements
  • course dates
  • course materials, and
  • audio files and video-streams of previous lectures.

Distinguished faculty and experienced tax lawyers from throughout the country provide an in-depth, practice-oriented curriculum. The technology makes it possible to offer a “Dream Team” Faculty including those considered experts in their fields both from Alabama, a top rank law school, and from other prominent law schools and law firms across the country.

We look forward to having you in the next entering class. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
