16th Street Baptist Church Memorial
September 15 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
The Alabama Law Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Black Law Students Association are proud to co-host a trip to the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham on September 15th to attend the annual Memorial for Denise McNair, Addie Mae Collins, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley Morris, the four children who were murdered in church on September 15, 1963. Following the Memorial, we will convene for conversation and reflection on how this tragic history informs our work today as lawyers and advocates.
A chartered bus will depart from the Law School parking lot promptly at 8:00 a.m. on the morning of September 15th and return after the Memorial. In the interest of everyone’s safety and health, we will follow University masking guidelines both on the bus, at 16th Street Baptist Church, and during our convening for reflection. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. To reserve a seat on the bus, please RSVP to Dana Waid by or before Friday August 27th at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
