Lawyers as Agents of Progress: Utilizing an Imperfect Constitution to Build a More Perfect Union

September 16 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Come join American Constitution Society on September 16th, 2019 at noon for our first event of the year! Brock Boone, Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Alabama, will be joining us to discuss his experience as a public interest lawyer championing progressive principles of law. Lunch will be provided!  Room 140

Our Constitution is one of the most impressive governing documents in human history, containing progressive principles adaptable to modern society. Yet, our Founding Fathers could not perfectly address every issue due to disagreements among them, and the compromises that resulted in areas such as slavery have required newer generations to address the glaring faults resulting in inequities in our society. And this fight continues today. Join us on Sept 16th to learn how public interest organizations continue to combat these persisting inequities by utilizing the progressive principle embedded within our Constitution.
