Advanced Torts: The Case of the Century--The Deepwater Horizon/BP Oil Sprill - LAW 749

The April 20, 2010 blowout, explosion, fire and subsequent oil spill involving the mobile offshore drilling unit Deepwater Horizon and the well Macondo, has forever changed the Gulf of Mexico and the five states most impacted.  This course explores the multitude of legal issues, procedures and problems associated with preparing, pursuing prosecuting and settling the various claims and issues created by the spill, including the state economic case, the Natural Resource Damage Assessment, the early restoration, process, the Clean Water Act/RESTORE Act, the private causes of action and settlement, the multi-district litigation, the limitations trials and the Gulf Coast Claims Facility.
