This 1 hour version of Workplace Law (Law 631) is an introduction to employment law focusing primarily on hiring, terms and conditions of employment, and discharge in non-unionized workplaces. We will discuss restrictions on hiring practices (e.g. application questions, drug testing), compensation, employee liberties, rules governing termination of employment, and employee duties to employers. Topics covered in other courses will be discussed lightly or omitted, such as employment discrimination, collective bargaining agreements, health benefits, unemployment compensation, and occupational health and safety. This course should not be taken by students who have already taken Workplace Law (Law 631).
