Michael Bownes is Secretary of the Board of Trustees for the University of Alabama, and serves as Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, and Deputy General Counsel for the University of Alabama. Prior to joining the UA System in October 2004, Mr. Bownes served as General Counsel for the State of Alabama Insurance Department, and as Director of the Attorney General?s Office of Consumer Protection. Mr. Bownes received his B.A. from the University of Alabama and his J.D. from Samford University?s Cumberland Law School.

William N. Clark is a partner at Redden, Mills, Clark & Shaw, LLP, in Birmingham, Al. Prior to attending the University of Alabama School of Law, Mr. Clark served as a United States Army officer in Germany and Vietnam. Mr. Clark has served as the President of Birmingham Bar Foundation and Birmingham Bar Association; He has served as the President of the University of Alabama Law School Foundation, as well as President of the Alabama State Bar. Mr. Clark is a fellow with the American College of Trial Lawyers and listed in the Best Lawyers in America in the areas of white-collar criminal defense, family law and ethics. Rich Raleigh is managing shareholder of the firm, Wilmer & Lee, P.A., in the firm?s Huntsville, Alabama office. Prior to joining Wilmer & Lee, Mr. Raleigh served in the United States Army Judge Advocate General?s Corp and was stationed in Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, and Macedonia. In 2014-2015 Mr. Raleigh serves as President, Alabama State Bar. He has also served as a Bar Commissioner, Alabama State Bar; Fellow, Alabama Law Foundation; and Chair, Board of Directors, Madison County Volunteer Lawyers Program. Philip Reich serves as Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, University of Alabama; and Director of Special Programs and Deputy General Counsel, University of Alabama System. Previously, Mr. Reich served, for twenty years, as Presiding Circuit Judge of Lawrence County, Alabama. Upon retiring from the bench, Mr. Reich maintained a mediation practice serving over ten counties in the state of Alabama in domestic, civil and appellate matters. Mr. Reich teaches in the Honors College, University of Alabama and serves on the President?s Cabinet of the University. Mr. Reich received his undergraduate degree and his J.D. from the University of Alabama.
Edward S. Sledge, IV, formerly of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, is a partner in the Birmingham office of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings. Ed has an extensive general litigation practice, representing businesses in commercial, class action, financial services and intellectual property litigation, as well as in personal injury and product liability matters. When not advancing his clients' interests, Ed serves as the Chair of the Alabama State Bar's Leadership Forum Section, the Chair of the Alabama State Bar's Service Members and Veterans Support Task Force and the Chair of the IADC's Business Litigation Committee. Ed received his B.S. in 1995 from the United States Military Academy, where he received the Superintendent's Award, and his J.D. in 2003 from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he was a Senior Editor on the Alabama Law Review, winner of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Competition, a member of the Moot Court Board, and the Jessup International Moot Court Team, as well as a member Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society and justice on the Honor Court. Ed is a member of the Order of Barristers. Prior to law school, Ed served with the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia as an armor platoon leader, infantry mortar platoon leader, assistant battalion operations officer and battalion logistics officer.
Alyce Manley Spruell serves as Of Counsel to the law firm, Rosen Harwood, P.A., Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Prior to joining the Rosen firm, Ms. Spruell served as Administrative Director of Courts; and as Director of the Legal Division, State of Alabama, Unified Judicial System. Prior to her service with the State of Alabama, Ms. Spruell was managing partner, Spruell & Powell LLC, Northport, Alabama, where her practice focused on general civil litigation, employment and business law, legislative and regulatory law, and alternative dispute practice.
Ms. Spruell has served as President, Alabama Bar Association (2010-2011); Member, Alabama Law Foundation Board of Directors; Member, Alabama State Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program; Chair, Protocol and Security Subcommittee, Alabama State Bar, Digital Communications Task Force; and Member, Chamber of Commerce, West Alabama?s Public Affairs Council. Al Vance serves as Associate General Counsel at Altec Industries in Birmingham, AL.
