Donald McKenzie is a founding partner of the firm McKenzie Laird PLLC after having maintained his own law practice for five years. Previously, Mr. McKenzie was with Stokes, Bartholomew, Evans, & Petree, P.C., Sherrard & Roe, PLC, and Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP in Nashville, Dunnington, Bartholow & Miller and Weil Gotshal & Manges in New York, and Freeman, Rothe, Freeman & Salzman in Chicago. Before emigrating to the United States in 1975, Mr. McKenzie served as an officer in the Army in his native Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), and with the Office of the Attorney General and in private practice at the Bar in Salisbury, Rhodesia (Harare, Zimbabwe). In addition to his membership with the mergers and acquisitions and federal regulation of securities committees of the American Bar Association's business law section, Mr. McKenzie is a frequent speaker at CLE events sponsored by the American, Tennessee, and Nashville Bar Associations on corporate and securities law topics such as mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, third party opinions, and corporate governance. Mr. McKenzie received his LL.B (Hons) from the University of Rhodesia in Harare, Zimbabwe and an LL.M and degree in comparative legal studies from Cambridge University in England.
