Expungement Clinic

SPECIAL EVENT: TWO-SESSION EXPUNGEMENT CLINIC

FIRST SESSION: Thursday 9/28/23 from 5pm to 7pm


What: The Criminal Defense Clinic is hosting an Expungement Clinic in collaboration with Outside the Walls. This session is the first in a two-session process. To complete all expungement paperwork, individuals will need to attend both sessions.

When: On Thursday 9/28/23 from 5pm to 7pm.

Where: The Expungement Clinic will be held on Shelton State’s C.A. Fredd Campus at 3401 Martin Luther Kind Jr. Blvd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 in the Cafetorium which is in Building 700.

Why: To begin the process of cleaning up your criminal record and put yourself in a better position to obtain employment and housing.

What kinds of criminal records can be expunged?*

  • If you were found “not guilty” by a judge or jury
  • If the prosecutor dropped the charges
  • If you successfully completed a diversion program or drug court
  • If your conviction is more than 3 years old and is a misdemeanor
  • If you committed the offense while you were a victim of human trafficking because you were being trafficked

The Second Session of the Expungement Clinic will be held at a date and location to be determined based on the individual circumstances of the participants.
