Alabama Law Holds Closing Ceremony for PLUS Program Participants

July 31, 2020

Alabama Law bid farewell today to third class of the Alabama LSAC Pre-Law Undergraduate Scholars Program.

During the closing ceremony, Alabama Law provided certificates of completion to 25 participants and recognized those who had excelled in contracts and legal writing. Teaching assistants also awarded certificates to three students for outstanding leadership.

The PLUS program, funded by a $300,000 grant from the Law School Admission Council, helps prepare students for the law school admission process, success in law school, and careers in the legal profession.

This year, the Law School hosted a virtual PLUS Program for students who live in 17 states. Due to the pandemic, the program was held online.

The four-week program included two core components: Contracts and Legal Writing. Students attended sessions on the law school admission process, special topics, personal and professional development, as well as participated in weekly community-building activities.

The PLUS program attracts promising students from groups that are historically underrepresented in the legal profession, from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as students facing other significant barriers to entering the legal profession.
