Resource for Current Law Graduate Students
New Student and Orientation Resources
The Graduate Department offers three graduate degree programs. Two are online programs designed for working professionals. The LL.M. in Taxation is designed for lawyers and law students who are unable to attend classes on campus. The tax program offers concentrations in taxation and in business transactions. The Juris Masters program is also offered online but designed for non-lawyers who want tax training. Finally, the International LL.M. is for foreign lawyers and must be completed in residence.
The concentration in tax provides lawyers with educational opportunity to obtain an advanced degree in tax law that is both broad-based but also in-depth. Students can also choose electives allowing for concentrations in either Estate Planning or Business Tax.
The concentration in Business Transactions is designed to train lawyers to serve the needs of business and tax clients throughout the life cycle of a business venture. The skills-based program begins with formation and choice of business entity, then addresses financing in the growth phase, possible reorganizations and mergers as the business matures. The concentration offers elective courses in various business tax courses.
The Juris Masters program offers sophisticated tax training to accountants, business students and CPAs who hold a bachelor’s degree. The Juris Masters is an advanced degree program for non-lawyers seeking comprehensive legal training in tax.
The Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D.) degree is offered to international applicants who have already obtained an LL.M. or comparable postgraduate law degree.
Students learn from distinguished professors and experienced attorneys nationwide who offer the perfect mix of theory and practice.
